Asus is a renowned brand in gaming laptops. It’s in the same league as Alienware and other majors in the industry. Taiwanese manufacturer Asus offers a variety of products to suit all budgets, including low-cost models and powerful models with the latest GPU and processor technology.
Despite its top-of-the-line specs, the ROG Strix Scar 16 is a portable machine. Its 17-inch display has an 144Hz to 240Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution, which is still sufficient for a full-on experience. The battery can last for 6-8 hours with mixed use, and the fans are quiet even when they are under load.
The Scar 16’s design has some gamer aesthetics but isn’t excessively flashy. Its most distinctive feature is its prismatic lid, which catches light and shines it through 8,279 tiny holes for a rainbow-like effect. The laptop’s display pivot also lifts the chassis back to improve airflow. It also tilts the keyboard towards you. Asus calls it the ErgoLift hinge.
This laptop is great for gaming, but can also handle other tasks that require processing like editing video or image manipulation. It’s got plenty of ports, including USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5mm combo jack and Gigabit Ethernet — as well as an SD card slot that is dedicated to. The speakers are powerful, but they can become dispersed and shrill when they are in high volume, so you’ll probably prefer to pair it up with headphones. The only drawback is minor unwanted software that will need to be removed including McAfee Personal Security and the Dolby App.
